Today I have two short little blurbs that I want to share with you. They are both basically little responses to two things coming live off of the AP news feed.
Also, as a side note, that Alex I was arguing with, she stops letting your comments go through on her site when you keep disagreeing with her. This is sad, and I hate this on any site. Really, I want any and all comments on my site, even those that accuse me of sucking cock.
Finger length may predict financial success
Straight from the AP news feed, the size of your ring finger in comparison to your index indicates that you will be wealthy. Oh, it also shows that you will be good at competitive sports and be a hansom devil. Let's see, my ring finger is bigger, so we know it is obviously true.

^my sexy hand^Anyways, as is indicated, it appears that I should be good at sports and also a good stock trader. While I can argue that I am good at both, I think that this is the stupidest conclusion ever. A sample size of like 50 people is nothing to show a conclusion. This is not science, this is merely a coincidence.

PETA: Spearfish school should be called Sea Kitten
PETA, apparently, in all of their wisdom, has decided that the term 'spearfish' somehow harms an animal. While I am not exactly sure how a name harms an animal, I find their logic to be hilarious. By arguing that fish have friends and think rationally they are kinda screwing up their biology. This shows the folly that PETA has become, and shows some problems with them
Why would you waste resources and support by proposing something as asinine as this? Seriously, there is something wrong with PETA if they think that this is important
Even worse, PETA has decided to make this an OFFICIAL CAMPAIGN with cudlly images and everything. Now, I am all for humane treatment of animals, but I think that PETA has finally lost its rocker here. Seriously, what the hell. Besides the simplistic pictures, and the teaching that your parents are idiots, there is something else wrong here... See the picture of the chick hugging a fish, yeah, that would kill it.
PETA IS PROMOTING THE SUFFOCATION AND REMOVING OF SCALES ON FISH!!

Indeed, there are two comments on the thread we were having a discussion on awaiting your response. I have enjoyed very much articulating my arguments proving that your single-sentence answers are not “answers” at all (because you don't have answers?).
About PETA, here is their logic:

"We want people to realize that more fish are killed each year than all animals combined," he said. "They don't have the sympathy of more popular animals like cats and dogs."
Perhaps the logic is incorrect, but you, of course, don’t challenge it. You merely assume it and attack.

Fish are far more complicated than we assume: they suffer, for example. Challenge their argument and premises; ad homonym's are childish and are used when our assumptions are proven baseless. That is the primary point.

Fish do not have friendships, which is my biggest issue here. I have no issue with images of dolphins (which do) and then talking about how deeplining and the like kills them. It does, and I oppose it for that reason. My issue is in the message about fish, and also the image...

To begin, marine biologists have authoritatively argued that "schools" of fish are not loose associations of strangers, but a cohesive unit governed by underlying principles. A fish’s physiology allows him/her to recognize many other fish and associate with them as such. There is even evidence of fish sacrificing themselves for the life of another. I would suggest that you educate yourself.
Second, it's called satire. (However, the underlying physiology is an interesting question, which has been settled.)
I might add, like we spoke about previously, PETA’s advertisement is trying to have this effect: to counter the message presented to our children by big business, our parents, and children’s books about nonhuman animals existing in their idyllic lives awaiting their turn on our plates. So again, if one message can be challenged, the same challenge, unless you can defend it, must be leveled against the initial message.
PETA uses the same tactics in this ad as every meat producers ever has. From McDonalds Farms showing smiling cows and pigs awaiting their deaths to the "happy cheese" commercials where mother cows are actually advocating for their daughters to be removed from them and sent to a factory farm.

--BULLSHIT, prior major, i teach in this, have worked in this, and probable doctorate. I call bullshit on this all. Fish recognize their own species (due to pheremones) which is why they school together. That is a safty feature, nothing more or less--

--I have no issue with the campaign, my only issue is that it does teach the kids wrong. I agree that we need to stop the fishing styles we are using, but there are more accurate ways of doing it--
